On the foundation of the Dzūkija, Curonian Spit and Žemaitija National parks, the Trakai Historical National park and the Viešvilė State Reserve
In order to preserve the most important Lithuanian landscape ensembles and ethno-cultural heritage for forthcoming generations the Supreme Council of the Republic of Lithuania RESOLVES:
1. to establish the national parks and state reserve (according to their draft plans) provided for in the Lithuanian Republic's combined natural conservation scheme:
1. Dzūkija National Park - 55,000 ha
2. Curonian Spit National park - 19,000 ha (including 9,000 ha of waterways in the Curonian Lagoon and Baltic Sea);
3. Žemaitija National Park - 20,000 ha;
4. Trakai Historical national Park - 8,000 ha;
5. Viešvilė State reserve - 3,000 ha
2. Via the Environmental Protection Dept of the Lithuanian Republic and Cultural Heritage Inspectorate to oblige the Government of the Republic of Lithuania to:
1. confirm the statutes of the Dzūkija National park, Curonian Spit National park, Žemaitija National Park, Trakai Historical National park and Viešvilė state Reserve by Nov. 1 1991;
2. establish and confirm the boundaries of the Senieji Trakai Historical Protection Zone and Viešvilė State Reserve Protection Zone.
3. require the Government of the Republic of Lithuania:
1. By July 1 1991 to mark the boundaries of the national parks and state reserve on land usage plans
2. by January 1 1992 to draft land allotment plans and grant permanent use of forestry district and state waterways land which come within the boundaries of the relevant national parks and state reserve to the Dzūkija, Curonian Spit, Žemaitija and Trakai Historical National Parks and Viešvilė State Reserve. The transfer of other land to the national parks will be decided upon during the period of land reforms.
4. To grant the Government of the Lithuanian Republic via the Lithuanian Republic's Environmental Protection Dept the right to makes changes to the boundaries of national parks, reserves and the protection zones thereof.
5. to require the Nature Conservation Commission of the Supreme Council of the Lithuanian Republic to oversee the implementation of this Resolution.
